Jack Cockington

Growing up in a family of academics and creatives, I developed an ambition for learning at a young age. In my 20’s I pursued photography and design whilst completing my creative arts degree in creative writing at the University of Wollongong. Following up on these skills in minor electives at university, I found a passion amongst visual storytelling within art and imagery basing early works on artists like Keith Herring, Henri Matisse, and Australian artist Jack Irvine.

Much of my intention for art comes from a coastal upbringing in Wollongong, NSW Australia. Focusing a lot on the ocean and beach spaces and it’s human interactions with surfing, liminal space and pollution.
